Eyes to Serve, Hands to Learn

Keep the earth below my feet
From my sweat, my blood runs weak
Let me learn from where I have been
Keep my eyes to serve, my hands to learn
-Mumford and Sons "Below My Feet"

I am now a third year dental student! Hooray!  I am currently in my third week of being in the clinic seeing actual patients, and it is an awesome experience.  During our first week of clinic a group of our friends went to the concert Mumford and Sons.  Probably not the smartest thing to do during the first week of clinic...but hey- we had fun!  I have always loved the above lyrics from the song "Below my Feet"- I get warm fuzzies. :-)
My love and I at the concert
I am finally certain that this is the career for me (I was getting nervous there for awhile- especially since I am committed to the Navy for at least four years).  I was not so sure about my choice during my first and second year, but am glad that I stuck it out! It has been a stressful two years- and I don't think I would have made it through them without the support of my loving husband, family, friends, (and Maggie, of course) :-).  Dan has been really supportive- I don't know how he was able to listen to me complain every.single.day. about not wanting to study.  He has rubbed away many a tension headache, listened to many complaints from my dental friends and I about school, and provided a shoulder to cry on during many different occasions.  What a sweetie :-).  I have made some incredible friends that I know I will have for life.  We have done some really fun things together....and also lot's of not so fun things together...(STUDYING FOR DAYS).  These guys always seem to put a smile on my face and I am forever grateful for that!

This past Halloween- Sage had never carved a pumpkin before!  We set our pumpkins out on our patio for approximately one day before massive amounts of mold started to grow (blasted Arizona heat!)
More on my fellow dentite friends in a later post...(basically a lot more pictures and sappy words saying how awesome they are!)

On a different note (and one that I am very excited about) I get to go to Tonga in November!  Every year the school has a mission trip where dental students get a lot of experience working on the people of Tonga.  I am so truly blessed that I have such a supportive husband that pushed me to apply for the trip, even when we haven't gone on a vacation together since our honeymoon! (I am also not going to be there on our second anniversary because of the trip, and I am sad about that, but I will be back the day after!)  I am so excited for this upcoming experience!
I will now end this post with this pink pig

Bright, Bright, Bright Sunshiny Day

“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living.”
― Dr. Seuss

WHEW. It is a hot one here in sunny Glendale, AZ.  We just spent one night this past weekend 2 hours north of Glendale in Flagstaff.  My friends Liza, Jackie, Cara, Rachel, and Devin and I ran a 5K called "Gaspin in the Aspens."  It was beautiful (and much cooler) but boy were my red blood cells churning! :-)  I was definitely GASPIN.
This picture includes the whole gang- one of our professors and her three kids also ran with us. Maggie especially enjoyed her time up north.  Her favorite activities included:
Eating an ice cream cone from Aunt Cara

Waiting for some ice cream to drop from Dad's cone
But most of all riding in the back with Aunt Cara :-)
We can't wait to go back!  I bought a new magazine yesterday that has the top 12 camping spots in AZ.  We can't wait to use our new tent!
